Avi and the cops!
Shortly after leaving the airport, our tour guide Avi began to excitedly describe the many things we will see and do over the next week. Here are some of my favorite fun facts:
Tel-Aviv is a relatively new city. It is near the ancient city of Joppa (now known as Jaffa). Do you remember what Joppa is famous for?

- Jonah sailed for Tarshish from Joppa
- Peter stayed with Simon the Tanner here
- And this is where Peter resurrected Dorcas
Well, shortly into our drive from the airport to the hotel, the police intervened and questioned our bus driver and our new friend, Avi. We were detained for quite some time while they had a very animated conversation in Hebrew both off and on the bus before the ticket was issued. Normally, this would have caused alarm for my traveling companions but given the fact that they had not slept in 24 hours, they slept through the entire incident.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I worked diligently to keep the crew awake - offering snacks and coffee to discourage any more midday slumber as we needed to reset our body clocks. We enjoyed dinner alongside the Mediterranean Sea while getting to know friends from Atlanta, Los Angeles, Tampa, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Hawaii. Some are continuing with us to Copenhagen and others are delegates for the International Convention in Madrid.

Tomorrow we have a 7:30am start to get to Caesarea, Mount Carmel and Megiddo - yes, that’s right friends - tomorrow we will be in Armageddon!
Good night! π΄
