And they will build houses. . .

Today, we enjoyed the Frederiksborg Castle Tour.  It is located about an hour outside of the city and it’s over 400 years old.  It has a rich history - But it’s a fake!

Thieves in the temple: The castle was captured by the Swedes in 1659 and the queen of Sweden loved the fountain so much that when the Danish Royal family returned, they found that the queen had taken it with her.  So they had to replace it. Even still, it is the oldest working fountain in Denmark.

The roof is on fire 🔥: One cold night in 1859, fire broke out.  The lake was frozen and the only available water was in the kitchen. Massive destruction resulted and it took 25 years to rebuild. Previously, many walls were leather - now just painted to look like the real thing.  Even still, it is magnificent.

So why did we come here again?  King Christian IV built this castle and it is apparent that he had a fondness for Jehovah’s name. We found the divine name in either Hebrew and Latin in almost every room we visited. Here are some pictures of a few of them - can you find it?

This plaque above the entrance gate includes a quote from the Queen
asking for Jehovah’s spirit to lead her

Other locations where Jehovah’s name can be found: In the chapel where weddings are held, atop pillars dedicated to faithful men in the Bible, in the oldest bible translated into Danish language, within the ceiling decorations.

Are you curious - How did this King and Queen come to know Jehovah’s name?  Do you know who they were related to?  King James of England was married to King Christian IV’s sister. Could their close family ties and King James’ interest in the Bible have been the spark?   Another good reminder to use God’s name and share what we know about him with others - especially with those we love.

Completed in 1610, this is the oldest working organ in the world and is still played every Thursday afternoon.
The McClouds enjoyed a beautiful lunch outside the castle garden.
We wish you were all here to enjoy these beautiful places!

  1. Nice reminder not to be ashamed of using the Divine name Jehovah. "They will have to know that you whose name is Jehovah. "
