16,000 steps
After the castle tour, my travel companions humored me with a private detour through the streets of Copenhagen. I had two destinations on my short list, but there was so much more in store. First stop: Nyhavn (New Harbor).
One of the local friends escorted us to the nearby metro station as he was heading out to meet his wife. We got our tickets, boarded the train, and were off in less than 5 minutes. But once we came up from the train station into the main square - it was like we landed in another world. There were people everywhere - and it seemed as if most were Jehovah’s Witnesses from every tribe and nation.
After walking around and enjoying meeting new friends every 100 feet (and we had just missed an impromptu JW concert in the park), we decided to try to find the famous Tivoli park. We followed the street signs and directions as best we could but it was most helpful to get to check our coordinates with the local friends we passed along the way. Many tried to kindly suggest that we take a bus, but we didn’t want to miss anything. Besides, we only bought a one-way ticket and we were determined to maximize our time in the area. At least, that’s what I kept telling my semi-willing travel companions.
Tomorrow is the first day of the convention! I’m so excited 😆

An oasis right in the center of everything!
Tivoli is an amusement park that opened in 1843 - making it one of the oldest in the world. It has a wooden rollercoaster appropriately called “The Roller Coaster” that was built in 1914. And, no - we DID NOT ride it. After our longer than expected walk, all we wanted was dinner, dessert and a quick ride back to the hotel. So after we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings that make this place almost dreamy, we jumped in our taxi so we could enjoy some real dreams. 😴 🛌
